ISLAMABAD, Aug 01 (APP):The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday adjourned hearing of export of timber in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel remarked that why the KPK gover
nment didn’t file miscellaneous application for early hearing of the case which is pending since 2013.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood remarked that the KPK gover
nment has been sleeping. The mafia will cut the entire forest in this way, he said.
Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel said that both the gover
nment and the forest department are asleep. The
provincial gover
nment could have implemented the policy but did not do anything. The Court asked the additional advocate general KP if he has the authority to make rules.
Additional Advocate General KP Shah Faisal said that after the 18th Amendment, the subject of forests is the authority of the
provincial government, the
provincial gover
nment can ban the export of forests.
Shah Faisal said that the
provincial gover
nment can also collect tax, adding that the
provincial gover
nment is imposing a ban. He also submitted forest policy 2002 to the apex court’s bench.
The court admitted the appeal for hearing and adjourned the case for one month.
