Punjab govt to introduce councils to improve educational sector

The Punjab government announced Tuesday the establishment of councils in private and public schools throughout the province in order to improve school performance.

On Tuesday, the education authorities announced that private schools’ registrations would be revoked for non-compliance.

The School Council will have seven members and will be chaired by the school principal.

The School Council will be made up of teachers, parents, and educators. It has been announced that high schools will include a teacher from the primary section, while the secretary of education will serve on the School Council or will nominate a member.

A representative from the District Education Authority would be another member (DEA).

The School Council will be notified for a two-year period and its meetings will be held monthly.

The school’s administration has advised that a complaint box will be placed on campus and that all complaints will be read aloud in front of all students.

The School Council will investigate all complaints made by parents regarding alleged child abuse and sexual harassment.

It has been announced that the School Council will review the budget for all curricular and extracurricular activities.

According to the Punjab School Education Department, the School Council will assist in raising the educational institutes’ standards.
